Nursing: A Noble Profession
Nursing is one of the most honorable and noble professions due to its direct relationship with the health and well-being of individuals. It is a vital means of preserving human life.
The Almighty has said:
“And whoever saves one [life] – it is as if he has saved mankind entirely.” (Quran)
The Messenger of Allah, Muhammad (peace be upon him), said: “No one has been given anything better after certainty than good health.”
Imam Ali, the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him), reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever assists a sick person with a need, whether fulfilled or unfulfilled, will emerge from their sins as on the day their mother bore them.”
Imam Ali (peace be upon him) also said: “Health is the most delightful blessing.”
From this perspective, the College of Nursing at the University of Hilla, represented by its distinguished dean and professional faculty, with the support of the esteemed university president and his respected deputies, is committed to serving, supporting, and enhancing the health of the beloved Iraqi people. This is achieved through its academic and professional mission aimed at preparing scientifically and professionally qualified nursing personnel capable of competing locally, regionally, and globally in the job market.
The college fosters an academic and creative environment that motivates excellence and provides comprehensive nursing care at preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative levels. It also conducts scientific research related to health issues by offering high-quality academic programs based on critical thinking, accountability, teamwork, and achieving competitive advantages.
Moreover, the college aims to graduate competent university nurses who contribute effectively to serving the Iraqi community, alleviating ailments, combating diseases, and addressing future epidemics. This is grounded in evidence-based nursing education according to the latest global standards, striving to produce a “five-star” university nurse capable of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
And Allah is the Grantor of Success.
